Amaechi guilty of treason – PDP

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has said public declarations by the Governor of Rivers State, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, are treasonable.

The party therefore called for the arrest and trial of Amaechi to protect the peace and unity of the country.

The position of the PDP was contained in a statement by Jerry Needam, the spokesperson of the Rivers State Chairman of the party, Felix Obuah.

The statement said: “Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s call to form a parallel
government if the All Progressives Congress looses the general elections and his call on soldiers to protest, are calls to arms, incitement at best from one who is the chief security officer of a State.

“He cannot incite Nigerians, the military and security agencies to take up arms against the country at the twilight of his wasteful regime and we sit and watch him undermine the federal government and continue to provide aid and comfort to enemies of Nigeria.

“Governor Amaechi had at several fora urged to take up arms against the police.

“Amaechi is a security risk in Nigeria and should be made to face the law.”
