'Patience Jonathan mobilising thugs to boo Dickson’
The ex-militants, who operate under the auspices of Mangrove Boys of Bayelsa, therefore, warned Patience not to accompany her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan, to the campaign.
The development came barely one week after the Bayelsa Youth Vanguard (BYV) issued a similar warning, asking the First Lady not to attend the presidential rally scheduled for Samson Siasia Complex, Yenagoa.
The militants, in a statement on Tuesday by their President, Opuyo Engobara, and Secretary, Warrman Aderi, accused Patience of deploying her favourite governorship aspirant, Waripamowei Dudafa, to recruit youths to boo and stone Dickson at the presidential campaign.
Dickson and the First Lady had been at loggerheads over the next governorship election in the state with Dudafa as her anointed candidate.
In October 2010, former governor of the state, Timipre Sylva, was booed and pelted with sachet water, bottled water, pebbles, sandals and other items at a political event at the Samson Siasia Stadium in the presence of Jonathan and his wife.
The ex-creek warlords wondered why the President was pretending not to see the alleged excesses of his wife, adding that they suspected he was planning to also join in the stoning of the governor.
“In her last visit to the state, Mrs. Jonathan came ahead of her husband, avoided the state Government Lodge, stayed at Otuoke for three days.
“She was then busy sponsoring Dudafa’s recruitment drive of youths with the intention to go against the governor by booing and stoning him at the planned rally to discredit his administration before the PDP National Executive Council (NEC).
“Is President Goodluck Jonathan using this as a ploy to join Bayelsa youths to stone Governor Dickson in order to oust Dickson’s administration since he could hardly rebuke his wife in several of her political atrocities? They alleged.
