Police Arraigne Five NASS Employees Over Salary Protest

The police in Abuja on Thursday arraigned five employees of the National Assembly, who they arrested and detained on Wednesday, for taken part in a protest over the non-payment of their October salary before the Magistrate’s Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja.

The workers: Gobina Drisu, Estella Nwene, Chris Odo, Isaac Nathan and Nda Cyril, are members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), National Assembly Chapter.

They were arraigned on a three count charge of criminal conspiracy, illegal gathering and disturbing of public peace.

However, the workers have been granted bail by the court in the sum of N20, 000 each with one surety in like sum.

The case has been adjourned till December 16 for commencement of trial.
