AGBAKOBA TO SUE EKO ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANY OVER POOR POWER SUPPLY

AGBAKOBA TO SUE EKO ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANY OVER POOR POWER SUPPLY

We are customers at Maritime Complex 34 Creek Road, Apapa with Account No. 03/51/94/0371-01. We also represent over 2000 households and businesses in Apapa Business Unit.

Over the years we have had challenges with electricity supply to Apapa. We had hoped that with privatization and your takeover of electricity distribution, Apapa electricity supply will significantly improve. Sadly, this has not been the case. Electricity supply to Apapa has actually worsened.

Inspite of paying our bills promptly as and when due, we have not received commensurate electricity supply. Our annual electricity bill is about N 3.5 MILLION. When multiplied by over 2000 households and businesses it comes to over N7 BILLION annually.

When we include the cost of diesel and generator repairs for the long periods we receive no supply our electricity cost becomes even more outrageous.  In 2014, we spent over N50 MILLION on diesel and generator repairs. When again multiplied by 2000 it is over a N100 BILLION annually. This is not acceptable. We will not continue to pay for services not delivered.

TAKE NOTICE therefore that if after 15 working days we observe no significant improvement in electricity supply to Apapa. We shall initiate legal action for an injunction restraining your Company from further billing Apapa residents.
