Plateau guber aspirant slumps, dies in Lagos

Senator, Cosmas Niagwan, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Plateau State, is dead.

Niagwan, reportedly died after he slumped in Lagos on Wednesday night.

Niagwan, who represented Plateau South Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2003 to 2007, died before he got to the hospital where he was rushed after collapsing at about 7:30pm.

His Personal Assistant and nephew, Sunday Niagwan, confirmed the death.

Sunday said the late senator was hale and hearty before he collapsed.
He was quoted as saying: “He had gone to visit a friend at Festac town in Lagos, but on his way back, he slumped and before he was rushed to the hospital, he passed away.”

The Chairman of the Plateau State chapter of the PDP, Raymond Dabo,
said Niagwan’s death was a huge loss to the PDP family.

Dabo said: “We have lost a kind-hearted politician and an elder of the state.

“He will be greatly missed.”

Though Niagwan was yet to obtain his expression of interest and
nomination forms from the PDP, but posters expressing his intention to vie for the governorship seat of Plateau State have adorned the state for a long time.

The purchase of the forms closes Friday.

According to online news portal, the eagleonline, Niagwan is survived by a wife and six children.
