Mob sets two teenage boys ablaze in Enugu


Two unidentified teenage boys were set ablaze by an angry mob in Enugu city on Friday.
The incident occurred at Rail Line Holy Ghost axis of the coal city about noon.
According to an eyewitness, the mob shouting “thief, thief,” pursued the boys from an unknown place and caught up with them at the Rail Line where they were beaten to a state of unconsciousness, doused with fuel and set ablaze.
Policemen who were called to the scene, met the boys already badly burnt and in unconscious state. The policemen, however, rushed them to hospital immediately but their condition could not be ascertained as at the filing in this story on.
The state police spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu (DSP), who confirmed the incident, said the boys were accused of stealing.
Amaraizu advised the people to be law abiding, avoid taking laws into their hands and eschew jungle justice.
