Court Remands Four In Prison For Petroleum Pipeline Vandalism 


Justice Mohammed Yunusa of a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday remanded four men arraigned before him by the police in prison custody for alleged vandalism and unlawful dealing in petroleum products .

The accused persons, Andrew Ishola, 35,  Sunkanmi Aro, 27, Utuedor Micheal, 27, and Oladele Agbo, 35 were docked on a three-count charge of conspiracy, vandalism and unlawful dealing in petroleum products.

The prosecutor, Raymond Akhane informed the court that the accused persons were apprehended by a team of policemen at the Majidun area of Ikorodu in Lagos after a tip off sometime in November.

Akhane also allegedly that they accused persons tampered with the free flow of refined petroleum products through an oil pipeline in the locality, and engaged in illegal sale of the products.

He maintained that the offence contravene the provisions of sections 3(1), 5, and 7 of the Miscellanous Offence Act, 2004. 

They however pleaded not guilty to the charge a development that made their counsel, McAnthony Akhariale urged the court to grant them bail.

Justice Yunusa admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N1 million each, with two sureties each in like sum.

He, however, ordered they be remanded in custody, pending the fulfillment of their bail condition.

He adjourned the case till March 31, for trial
