Judiciary workers vow to continue strike

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) yesterday vowed to continue its ongoing strike until financial autonomy was granted the judicial sector, just as it denied claims that the strike was being sponsored by opposition political parties.

The union, after an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the Labour House Abuja, described as untrue and total blackmail allegations that some politicians were behind the ongoing strike action.

In a communiqué jointly signed by its president, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu and its general secretary, Comrade Isaiah M. Adetola, the union vowed that the strike which started on January 2, would be sustained until all stakeholders complied with the Federal High Court Abuja judgment which granted financial autonomy to the judiciary.

The union also frowned upon actions and utterances of some lawyers and state governors which it said were aimed frustrating the implementation of the judgment and the Memorandum of Understanding signed on the 27th, November, 2014.
