Aiyegbeni coaches league club in England

Former Super Eagles forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni is learning the ropes as a coach in England with National League side Boreham Wood.

The Nigerian who was a hit at Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton and
Blackburn Rovers during his time in the Premiership, netted 96 goals in
220 Premier League games.

His experience with the senior Nigeria national team has also helped him in his first unofficial role as coach, in helping strikers of Boreham Woods, where he has been training since the summer.

Yakubu Aiyegbeni’s impact on young strikers of the team was praised by manager Luke Garrard as well as young forward Jamie Lucas who is on loan from Bristol Rovers.

“Yak can teach things I haven’t seen because he’s played at the highest level,” Garrard said.

“Yak has been taking the younger players under his wing the last three or four weeks and as long as he comes in and does that I’m happy to have Yak at the club.”
