Breaking News: Supreme Court Dismisses Saraki's Appeal Against CCT Trial

The Supreme Court this morning dismissed the appeal filed before it by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki to challenge the legality or otherwise of his arraignment and trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) for lacking in merit.

The apex court in a judgement delivered by Justice Onnoghen and agreed to by the six other member of the panel resolved all the five issued raised in the appeal against Saraki.

According to the court by virtue of Section 28 of the Interpretation Act, sitting of CCT with 2 members is valid and that the tribunal has quasi jurisdiction and so can issue bench warrant.

Justice Onnoghen also agrees with the procesution that the intention of CCT law is to make its proceedings criminal.
