Abuja court asked to stop PDP from forcing Mu’azu, others to resign
Two members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have asked
a High Court in Abuja, to stop the party from compelling the national
chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu and other National Working Committee (NWC) members from resigning their positions.
In suit CV/1831/15, dated May 14, 2015, the two party members,
Tasiu Iliyasu Hussaini and Waziri Amadu, want the court to
determine whether the NWC can be dissolved or members
forced to resign their positions without following the provisions
of the PDP constitution.
Also, they want the court to restrain the party from directing the
national chairman and other NWC members from resigning their
positions without following the prescribed procedure in the
party’s constitution.
Other defendants in the suit are Chief Uche Secondus, Deputy
National Chairman, Prof. Wale Oladipo, National Secretary, Chief
Solomo Onwe, Deputy National Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh,
Publicity Secretary, Chief Kema Chikwe, Women Leader, Elder
Bolaji Anani, Financial Secretary, Victor Kwom, Legal Adviser,
Abubakar Mustapha, Organizing Secretary, Hussaini Maibasira,
Youth Leader, Bala Buhari, Treasurer and Adewale Adeyanju,
Auditor.
The affidavit in support of the originating summons deposed to
by the plaintiff, stated that compelling the NWC members to
resign their positions could jeopardise the efforts to reposition
the party for success in future polls.
It will be recalled that some party chieftains including Governors
have called on the Adamu Mu’azu-led National Working
Committee (NWC) members to resign their positions for leading
the party to monumental defeat in the last general elections.
